Collection: September 2024

This month marks 10 years since I moved to Seattle, and I still can’t get over the joy of September as a summer month. Throughout my New England childhood, September meant seeing your breath in the morning air. Back east, September smells like freshly sharpened pencils and pumpkin spice. An east-coast September is fall, plain and simple.

In Seattle, September is often a warm-weather month. September means tomato season is still in full swing and Lake Washington can be bathwater warm. Though the days grow shorter, twilight still hits after 8 pm, and people linger outside soaking up every ray of sunshine they can. Even when the rain sets in early, Seattlites are still out and about. September is absolutely still summer—no matter the actual weather—and I love that this city embraces it fully, squeezing every last ounce out that we can.

With that in mind, we’re leaning hard into the last days of summer for this September wine club.

This month features Lambrusco—an eternal summer wine, in my opinion—for one final month of al fresco aperitivo; a coupla white wines to pair with any September food, from summery corn and tomato salads to the first braises of the season; a dark, moody rosé—or is it more of a chilled red?—from Oregon as we approach red wine season; an Italian red for takeout pizza eaten lakeside; and a culty Spanish Mencia from one of the world’s best winemakers. Whether this September brings endless sunshine or an early fall, we’ve got you covered.
